Our experience with the characters could be an anomaly, but with the set-up and size of the restaurant, we suspect this is a regular issue. Regardless, they have awesome costumes and the theme is so excellent that we weren’t disappointed. Those considering Tusker House primarily for the character interactions may not feel the same way, though, and judged solely as a character meal (emphasis on characters), it’s just slightly above average.

If you are entering the theme park through the main entrance, keep walking straight until you get to the Tree of Life. You will pass by Pandora, Pizzafari, and Creature Comforts and then will be met with a bridge that welcomes you into Africa. Cross over the bridge, and you will find Tusker House on your left. Tusker House is located inside the Africa section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. You can find it nearby the Harambe Theater, home to A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King and right next to Dawa Bar. Part of me wonders why Donald is stationed outside if the characters inside are stretched so thin.

This restaurant’s fun and vibrant atmosphere sets the tone for Tusker House Restaurant. Character dining offers an immersive experience for Guests to engage with their favorite characters while enjoying their meal. Breakfast and dinner are also served at Tusker House, with dinner being very similar to lunch, and breakfast offering characters and (obviously) a breakfast menu. Tusker House is less expensive than other character dining, making it a good value if paying out of pocket, but a poor value on the Disney Dining Plan.
If you are looking for a fun character meal in a unique setting with terrific food for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I highly recommend this restaurant. As far as the character breakfast goes, the breakfast platter comes with fan-favorite items including scrambled eggs, Mickey & Simba waffles, and Durban chicken & egg curry with jasmine rice, bacon, sausage, and roasted potatoes. All of this appeals to Sarah and me, so it’s just about the ideal restaurant for us, but we are probably the exception rather than the rule.
